In the present paper, the author proves that a connected Nakayama algebra has finite global dimension if and only if its resolution quiver is connected and its weight is 1 (Section 2). Moreover, a connected Nakayama algebra of infinite global dimension is Gorenstein if and only if the projective dimensions of all simple modules which lie in the cycles of the resolution quiver are not equal to 1. At the end of the paper, the author establishes connections between resolution quivers and Cartan matrices.
