Let \(H\) be a separable Hilbert space and \(T_{1}\), \(T_{2}\) be bounded linear operators on \(H\). Let \(M\subset H\) be a closed subspace of \(H\) being invariant for \(T_{1}\) and \(T_{2}\). A subset \(E\subset M\) is said to be a generating set if \(M\) is the smallest invariant subspace of \(H\) for \(T_{1}\) and \(T_{2}\) containing \(E\). The minimal number of elements in generating sets of \(M\) is called the rank on \(M\) for \(T_{1}\) and \(T_{2}\). Let \(H^{2}({\mathbb D})\) be the standard Hardy space on the unit disk \(\mathbb D\). Denote by \(H^{2}\) the Hardy space on the bidisk \(\mathbb D\times \mathbb D\). The independent variable on \(\mathbb D\times \mathbb D\) is denoted by \((z,w)\). Let \(T_{z}\) (resp., \(T_{w}\)) be the multiplication operator by \(z\) (resp., \(w\)) on the space \(H^{2}\). For an inner function \(\theta\in H^{\infty}({\mathbb D})\) denote \(K_{\theta}=H^{2}({\mathbb D})\ominus \theta H^{2}({\mathbb D})\). The finite Rudin type backward shift invariant space is the subspace of \(H^{2}\) representable as the finite sum \(\sum_{n}K_{\varphi_{n}}\otimes K_{\psi_{n}}\), where \(\varphi_{n}\) and \(\psi_{n}\) are inner functions satisfying some divisibility conditions. The main result of the paper deals with the rank of such spaces for \(T_{z}^{\ast}\) and \(T_{w}^{\ast}\).
