The author studies algebraic isomonodromic deformations of flat logarithmic connections on the Riemann sphere with \(n\geq 4\) poles, for arbitrary rank. Such a deformation parametrized by a simply connected basis is obtained by pull-back of a universal isomonodromic deformation (UID). A germ of UID is algebraizable if it can be recovered by restriction of a flat logarithmic connection on an algebraic vector bundle over a projective manifold \(X\) to a suitable family of rational curves in \(X\). Being algebraizable can be related to the property to yield a finite braid group orbit on the appropriate character variety. Under certain assumptions these properties are equivalent. The result is applied to the rank two case to relate finite branching and algebraicity for solutions to Garnier systems. For general rank one obtains a tool to produce regular flat meromorphic connections on vector bundles over projective varieties of high dimension.
