This book is a monograph devoted to semigroups of linear operators. The authors suppose that the reader (i) had a good understanding of real analysis with elements of the theory of measures and integration, (ii) had a first course in functional analysis and operator theory. It has seven chapters. Chapter 1 contains results on measurability and integrability of vector-valued functions. The Bochner integral is introduced. In Chapter~2, the authors concentrate on \(C_0\)-semigroups of bounded operators on a Banach space. The notion of the generator of a \(C_0\)-semigroup is introduced and its properties are studied. In Chapter~3, the authors focus on dissipative operators and contractive and holomorphic semigroups. In Chapter~5, Chernoff's theorem is proved as well as some of its applications, viz., the Trotter-Kato product formula, the Feynman-Kac formula and the central limit theorem. A proof of the mean ergodic theorem is also given at the end as a further application of the concept of \(C_0\)-group and Stone's theorem. In Chapter~6, a concrete model of the construction of a Markov semigroup is given, following {T. Kato}. The final Chapter~7 considers solutions of some partial differential equations in a Banach space \(X\) of functions in which the initial value lies and \(A\) is the differential operator from the given partial differential equation with domain \(D(A)\) in \(X\). The solutions of the given differential equation is then a trajectory in \(X\). This theory has applications to partial differential operators, in particular, the wave and Schrödinger operators.
