For \(p\in(1,\infty]\), \(q\in[1,\infty)\) and a weight \(w\) on \({\mathbb R}\), let \(A_p(w)\) and \(G_q(w)\) denote its \(A_p\) and \(G_q\)-constants, respectively. The Muckenhoupt class \(A_p\) and the Gehring class \(G_q\) consist of all weights \(w\) on \({\mathbb R}\) satisfying \(A_p(w)<\infty\) and \(G_q(w)<\infty\), respectively. For \(A,G>1\), consider the sharp transition exponents \[ s_p=\sup\{s\in(1,\infty):G_s(w)<\infty \text{ for } w\in A_p \text{ such that }A_p(w)\leq A\}, \] \[ \sigma_q=\inf\{\sigma\in(1,\infty):A_\sigma(w)<\infty \text{ for } w\in G_q \text{ such that } G_q(w)\leq G\} \] and sharp improvement exponents \[ \rho_p=\inf\{\rho\in(1,\infty):A_\rho(w)<\infty \text{ for } w\in A_p \text{ such that } A_p(w)\leq A\}, \] \[ r_q=\sup\{r\in(1,\infty):G_r(w)<\infty \text{ for } w\in G_q \text{ such that } G_q(w)\leq G\}. \] In the paper under review, it is shown that, if \(p\in(1,\infty]\), \(q\in[1,\infty)\), \(1/p+1/q=1\), and \(A=G>1\), then \(r_1=\lim_{q\to 1}r_q\), \(\rho_\infty=\lim_{p\to\infty}\rho_p\), \(\sigma_1=\lim_{q\to 1}\sigma_q\), \(s_\infty=\lim_{p\to\infty}s_p\) and \(1/r_q+1/\rho_p=1/\sigma_q+1/s_p=1\). This is a consequence of a representation theorem of \(A_\infty\) weights in terms of \(W^{1,r}\)-bi-Sobolev increasing homeomorphisms of \({\mathbb R}\) and a duality result between \(A_p\) and \(G_q\) classes in dimension one.
