The present paper proves a generalization of the result from [\textit{D. Christodoulou} and \textit{S. Klainerman}, The global nonlinear stability of the Minkowski space. Princeton Mathematical Series. 41. Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press. (1993; Zbl 0827.53055)]: the main theorem of the book says that any initial data, given on \(\mathbb R^3\), that are asymptotically flat and sufficiently close to the data for Minkowski space give rise to a solution with desired properties. L. Bieri is now able to prove the global existence of regular vacuum solutions in the neighborhood of the Minkowski space-time with weaker assumptions than posed by D. Christodoulou and S. Klainerman. Especially, the requested decay rates for the metric are weaker than there. The paper contains a long introduction where all applied concepts are defined, so that also non-specialists may be able to follow the arguments, including the bootstrap argument. The main part of the paper consists of the proof which contains many inequalities, energy expressions, and integrals.
