Optimal embeddings in quaternion algebras (Q531786)

Let \(A\) be a quaternion algebra over a number field \(k\) which satisfies Eichler's condition, \(L\) a quadratic extension of \(k\) which embeds in \(A\), \(R_k\) the ring of integers of \(k\), \(B\) an \(R_k\)-order in \(L\). Suppose that \(\mathcal E\) is an Eichler order of \(A\) of square-free level \(S\). The author determines when there exists an embedding \(\sigma :L\rightarrow A\) over \(k\) which gives an optimal embedding of \(B\) into \(\mathcal E\) in the sense that \(\sigma (L) \cap {\mathcal E} = \sigma (B)\).
