The goal of this paper is to give a direct generalization of a formula of Datskovsky and Wright on the zeta function associated with integral binary cubic forms in arbitrary number fields. The author shows that for a fixed number field \(K\) of degree \(d\), the zeta function associated with decomposable forms belonging to \(K\) in \(d-1\) variables can be factored into a product of Riemann and Dedekind zeta functions in a similar way (Theorems 2.1,\, 2.5). As a by-product, it is obtained a characterization of the fractional ideals generated by subsets of a dimension \(d-1\) subspace of \(K\) and the conductor ideals of order \(K\) (Theorems 5.2,\, 5.8). In Section 4, it is established a one-to-one correspondence between pure module classes of rank \(d-1\) of \(K\) and integral ideals of width \(<d-1\). Some of the applications of this result to orders and some of its consequences are discussed in Section 5. In Section 6 it is shown that the considered zeta function has an Euler product and the author computes the factors using a tailored Möbius inversion argument.
