    Let \(E\) be a measurable set with positive measure in \(\mathbb R^n\), and \(p(\cdot): E\to[1,\infty)\) be a measurable function. The Lebesgue space with variable exponent \(L^{p(\cdot)}(E)\) is defined by \(L^{p(\cdot)}(E):=\{f\text{ is maesurable}; \int_{E}| f(x)/\lambda| ^{p(x)}\,dx <\infty\text{ for some }\lambda>0\}\), and its norm is defined by \(\| f\| _{L^{p(\cdot)}(E)} :=\operatorname{inf}\{\lambda>0; \,\int_{E}| f(x)/\lambda| ^{p(x)}dx\leq1\}\). The homogeneous Herz space \(\dot K_{p(\cdot)}^{\alpha,q}(\mathbb R^n)\) with variable exponent is defined by \(\dot K_{p(\cdot)}^{\alpha,q}(\mathbb R^n) :=\{f\in L_{\operatorname{loc}}^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb R^n\setminus \{0\}); \| f\| _{\dot K_{p(\cdot)}^{\alpha,q}(\mathbb R^n)}<\infty\}\), where \(\| f\| _{\dot K_{p(\cdot)}^{\alpha,q}(\mathbb R^n)}= \| \{2^{\alpha\ell} \| f\chi_{2^{\ell-1}<| x| \leq 2^\ell}\| _{L^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb R^n)}\}_{\ell=-\infty}^\infty \| _{l^q(\mathbb Z)}\). The author shows that, under some additional assumptions on \(p(\cdot)\), any \(L^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb R^n)\) bounded sublinear operator \(T\) satisfying \(| T(f)(x)| \leq C\int_{\mathbb R^n}| x-y| ^{-n}| f(y)|\, dy\) for all \(f\in L^1(\mathbb R^n)\) with compact support and a.e. \(x\in\operatorname{supp}f\), is bounded on \(\dot K_{p(\cdot)}^{\alpha,q}(\mathbb R^n)\). The same result holds for analogously defined inhomogeneous Herz spaces \(K_{p(\cdot)}^{\alpha,q}(\mathbb R^n)\) with variable exponent. Using the above results, he gives characterizations and unconditional bases of the spaces \(\dot K_{p(\cdot)}^{\alpha,q}(\mathbb R^n)\) and \(K_{p(\cdot)}^{\alpha,q}(\mathbb R^n)\) in terms of wavelets.
