In [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 35, No. 1, 1-7 (2003; Zbl 1033.20002)], the author proved that the automorphism group of a countable structure cannot be (of isomorphism type of) an uncountable free group. This is expanded here to Polish groups, and actually a bit more. For automorphism groups of uncountable structures, it is proved that if the automorphism group of a structure of cardinality \(\mu\) has cardinality \(>\mu\), where \(\mu\) is strong limit and of cofinality \(\aleph_0\), then it cannot be free. The author also investigates the possibility of free Abelian groups in some context wider than that of Polish groups. The reader may also consult the related paper [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 37, No. 1, 54-60 (2005; Zbl 1081.20038)] by \textit{A. Khelif}.
