\textit{R. Fullér} and \textit{P. Majlender} have introduced in [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 136, No. 3, 363--374 (2003; Zbl 1022.94032); ibid. 143, No. 3, 355--369 (2004; Zbl 1056.94023)] possibilistic mean, possibilistic variance and possibilistic covariance of fuzzy numbers as averages of probabilistic means, variances and covariances of (probabilistic) uniform distributions on the level sets of the fuzzy numbers. Together with \textit{C. Carlsson}, the same authors have introduced in [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 155, No. 3, 425--445 (2005; Zbl 1085.94028)] a possibilistic correlation as the possibilistic covariance divided by the square root of the product of the possibilistic variances. The main drawback of this definition is that this correlation coefficient does not necessarily take its values between \(-1\) and \(1\). To overcome this drawback, now the authors of the present paper define the possibilistic correlation between two fuzzy numbers in an obvious way as average of the probabilistic correlation between the appropriate uniform distributions on the level sets, and they discuss some examples.
