Approximation properties of the generalized finite element method (Q533702)

This paper deals with an approximation result in the generalized finite element method which incorporate the global approximation property of the partition of unity (PU) functions. The authors consider PU functions that reproduce polynomials of degree \(l\). This property yields good global approximation property of the PU functions. Numerical results illuminating this result of Neumann BVP for Poisson PDE on the unit square are presented.
