The following nonlinear integral equation of the Hammerstein type is considered \[ \mu \Phi(x,y)-\lambda\int\limits_{0}^{1}\int\limits_{0}^{1}K(x,u,y,v)\Psi(u,v,\Phi(u,v))dvdu=F(x,y), \] where \(K(x,y,u,v)\in L_2([0,1]^4)\), \(F(x,y)\in L_2([0,1]\times[0,1])\), \(\lambda\) and \(\mu\) are some constants. The existence of at least one solution of this equation is proved. The degenerate method is used to obtain a nonlinear algebraic system, where the existence of at least one solution of this system is discussed. The paper also contains some computational results for three model equations.
