Index-one differential variational inequalities of the form \[ \frac{dx}{dt}=f(x)+B(x)u,\qquad x(t_0)=x_0\in\mathbb R^n, \tag{1} \] \[ 0\leq (w-u(t))^T[G(x(t))+F(u(t))]\quad\text{for all }w\in K\text{ and } t, \tag{2} \] \[ u(t)\in K \quad\text{for all } t, \tag{3} \] are considered. The author has proved that if (A1) \(K\subset\mathbb R^m\) is closed and convex, (A2) \(f, B\) and \(JG\) (being the Jacobian matrix of \(G\)) are all locally Lipschitz, (A3) \(F\) is monotone, (A4) \(JG(x)B(x)\) is symmetric positive definite for all \(x,\) (A5) all solutions of (1)--(3) have locally bounded \(u\), then solutions to (1)--(3) are unique. Also, examples are given to show that this matrix being merely positive definite is not sufficient for uniqueness, even though this is sufficient for the existence of solutions.
