The authors investigate two functional equations, which are called quintic and sextic respectively, due to the fact that in the real case \(x^5\) and \(x^6\) are solutions of them. Then, by using the fixed point theory, they prove the stability in the sense of Ulam-Hyers of these equations in quasi-\(\beta\)-normed spaces. No particular motivation is given for studying these equations and the methods used are the standard ones. A historical remark: The generalization of Th. Rassias' theorem obtained by Găvruta in 1994 is a special case of a general result published by the reviewer in 1980 (see [Stochastica 4, No.~1, 23--30 (1980; Zbl 0442.39005)]).
