The authors deal with a class of linear elliptic inequalities, involving inverse-square potentials and logarithmic weights. They prove sharp nonexistence results for nonnegative distributional solutions. We shall illustrate the considerations here by the following Theorem 1.1 (page 2). Theorem 1.1. Let \(u\geq 0\) be a distributional solution of: \[ -\Delta u-{(N- 2)^2\over 4}|x|^{-2}u\geq \alpha|x|^{-2}|\log|x||^{-2}u \] in the ball \(B_R= \{x\in\mathbb{R}^N; N\geq 2, |x|\leq R\leq 1\}\). Assume that there exists \(\gamma\leq 1\) such that \[ u\in L^2_{\text{loc}}(B_R; |x|^{-2}|\log|x||^{-2\gamma} dx),\quad \alpha\geq{1\over 4}- (1-\gamma)^2.\tag{\(*\)} \] Then \(u\equiv 0\) a.e. in \(B_R\). The assumption \((*)\) is sharp as an explicit counterexample shows.
