Dynamics of a rational system of difference equations in the plane (Q537218)

The article deals with the system of difference equations \[ x_{n+1} = \frac{\alpha_1 + \beta_1x_n}{y_n}, \quad y_{n+1} = \frac{\alpha_2 + \beta_2x_n}{y_n}, \qquad n = 0,1,\ldots \] The analysis of this equation is reduced to the study of iterations for the matrix \[ \begin{pmatrix} \beta_1 & 0 & \alpha_1 \\ \beta_2 & 0 & \alpha_2 \\ 0 & 1 & 0 \end{pmatrix}. \] This allows the authors to investigate the boundedness and asymptotic behavior of solutions, their stability, the existence of periodic solutions and so on. The cases \(\beta_2 = 0\) and \(\beta_2 \neq 0\) are studied separately. In the end of the article, the authors consider the special case when the coefficients and initial values of the solutions are nonnegative.
