It is well known that kernel operators provide a general representation tool for operators between Banach function spaces. Starting from a classical result of the 1930s that establishes that all operators from \(L^1\) to \(L^\infty\) are kernel operators with bounded kernel, a lot of results have been obtained for more general operators. In this paper the authors extend such kind of results to operators between spaces of vector valued functions. Starting from some more general integral representations in the Radon-Nikodym cycle of ideas, the authors prove that for a couple \((\Omega_1,\mu_1)\), \((\Omega_2,\mu_2)\) of strictly localizable measure spaces, the mapping \(k \mapsto T_k\) from the particular function space \(L^\infty_{\sigma^*}(\Omega_1 \times \Omega_2; \mathcal{L}(E,F'))\) to \(\mathcal{L}(L^1(\Omega_1,E),L_{\sigma^*}^\infty(\Omega_2,F'))\) is an isometric isomorphism, where \(T_k\) is a kernel type operator adapted to the vector valued case and \(L^\infty_{\sigma^*}\) is a particular space of weak* measurable and weak* bounded vector valued functions (Theorem 3.3). The authors also show some results concerning local operators and their representations as multiplication operators. An operator from \(L^p(\Omega,E)\) into itself is called \textit{local} if for all \(f\) in it we have that \(T(f)=0\) almost everywhere on \(\{w:f(w)=0\}\). Generalizing a result by Arendt and Thomaschewski, Theorem 4.2 states without separability assumptions for the spaces involved that for every local operator \(T\) there exists \(M \in L^\infty_{\sigma^*}(\Omega,\mathcal{L}(F'))\) such that \(T\) coincides with the multiplication operator \(\mathcal{M}_M\) associated to \(M\) by \(\mathcal{M}_M(f):=M(w) f(w)\). Positivity and regularity of the operators and their consequences on the properties of the representation are also studied involving some results on tensor products and bilinear maps.
