In [Algebr. Represent. Theory 14, No. 1, 191--199 (2011; Zbl 1245.17007)], \textit{L. Xia} and \textit{N. Hu} introduced a notion of co-split Lie algebras, which by definition, are Lie algebras \((\mathfrak{g},\mu)\) with a Lie coalgebra structure \(\delta\) such that the composition \(\mu\circ\delta\) of the two structure maps coincides with the identity. Xia and Hu gave an explicit construction of a coalgebra map \(\delta\) for \(\mathfrak{sl}(n)\) and for the other types via embeddings \(\mathfrak{g}\hookrightarrow\mathfrak{sl}\). The author of the paper under review noticed that for \(\mathfrak{g}\) endowed with a non-degenerate symmetric associative form \((\;,\;)\), \(\mu^*\), the dual of \(\mu\), is a natural coalgebra structure on \(\mathfrak{g}^*\). Identify \(\mathfrak{g}\) with \(\mathfrak{g}^*\) via \((\;,\;)\), one obtains a coalgebra structure \(\delta\) on \(\mathfrak{g}\). The composition \(\mu\circ\delta\) coincides with \(-c_{ad}\) (Lemma 2.1), where \(c_{ad}\) is the Casimir operator. For semisimple Lie algebras over a field of characteristic \(0\), it is easy to modify the map \(\delta\) such that \(\mu\circ\delta=\text{id}_{\mathfrak{g}}\), and this map is the same as that constructed by Xia and Hu for \(\mathfrak{sl}(n)\). For positive characteristic case, the author classified those Lie algebras with non-singular Casimir operator (Theorem 2.5).
