The object of this paper is to generalize the concept of diagonal and circular matrices to tensors of arbitrary order. It is well-known that circulant matrices are diagonalized by discrete Fourier transforms; in this paper the authors show that a tensor of arbitrary order, which is circulant with respect to two particular modes, can be diagonalized in those modes by discrete Fourier transforms. It is also showed that this diagonalization can be used in fast constructive products of tensors and also for solving tensor equations. The application of this framework in models for image blurring is discussed.
