Let \(H\) be a Hilbert space. The ``star oder'' on \(B(H)\) is a partial order defined as follows: \(A\leq_\ast B\) if \(A^*A = A^*B\) and \(AA^* = AB^*\). A new proof of the theorem by \textit{G. Dolinar} and \textit{L. Molnár} [Rep. Math. Phys. 60, No. 1, 159--166 (2007; Zbl 1131.81010)] that characterizes (not necessarily linear) continuous bijective maps on selfadjoint operators which preserve star order in both directions is given. Another result is concerned with additive maps \(\Phi\) from \(B(H)\) into \(B(K)\) such that \(AB =R\), where \(R\) is a fixed invertible operator, implies \(\Phi(A)\Phi(B)=\Phi(R)\). Under certain technical assumptions, \(\Phi\) is shown to be an algebra automorphism.
