Quantization of symbols in the magnetic pseudodifferential calculus [\textit{V. Iftimie, M. Măntoiu} and \textit{R. Purice}, Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 43, No.~3, 585--623 (2007; Zbl 1165.35056)] depends on a given magnetic field \(B=dA\). If a standard calculus (Kohn-Nirenberg, Weyl) associates with a symbol \(a\) an operator with Schwartz kernel \(K(x,y)\), then the magnetic calculus associates with \(a\) the operator with kernel \(e^{-i\int_{[x,y]} A}K(x,y)\). Here \([x,y]\) denotes the segment between \(x\) and \(y\). The magnetic quantization has the advantage of being gauge covariant. Symbol expansions differ from the usual formulas on the subprincipal symbol level. In the paper under review the authors define, in the same way as for pseudodifferential operators, magnetic Fourier integral operators (FIO). They generalize continuity and composition theorems, well-known for standard FIO, to magnetic FIO. The main result is Theorem 8.6, where the evolution group of a hyperbolic first order magnetic pseudodifferential operator is shown to be a magnetic FIO. As corollaries, estimates on the evolution kernel and propagation of singularities are shown.
