Nearly Kähler manifolds were introduced by \textit{A. Gray} [Math. Ann. 223, 233--248 (1976; Zbl 0345.53019)] and became of interest in various areas of Riemannian geometry. An important step in studying them is the result of \textit{P.-A. Nagy} [Asian J. Math. 6, No.~3, 481--504 (2002; Zbl 1041.53021)] which shows that a strict and simply connected nearly Kähler manifold is a product of three types of spaces. The author here provides sufficient conditions for the existence of such a splitting in the pseudo-Riemannian setting. A manifold satisfying these conditions is called nice and decomposable. Then, as in [Nagy, loc. cit.], the main result states that nice and decomposable nearly pseudo-Kähler 10-dimensional manifolds are either a product of a 6-dimensional strict nearly pseudo-Kähler manifold and a pseudo-Kähler surface, or a twistor space of an 8-dimensional para-quaternionic Kähler space. It is also shown that a strict nearly Kähler six-manifold is Einstein.
