A smooth compact manifold \(M\) is called smoothly Wecken if for any map \(f:M\to M\) and \(n\in\mathbb{N}\) there is a smooth map \(g\) homotopic to \(f\) such that the number of fixed points of \(g^n\) equals the Nielsen number \(NF_n(f)\) as introduced by [\textit{B. Jiang}, Lectures on Nielsen fixed point theory. Contemp. Math. 14, 110 p. (1983; Zbl 0512.55003)]. The author proves that nilmanifolds and solvmanifolds are smoothly Wecken.
