In the paper under review, the author gives a categorification of level two representations of the quantum group \(U_q(sl_N)\), the quantized enveloping algebra of \(sl_N\). A level two representation is an irreducible representation with highest weight \(\omega_s+\omega_{k+s}\), where \(\omega_i\) is the highest weight of the \(i\)th exterior power of the defining representation. Planar crossingless matchings are used to construct the arc rings \(A^{k, l}_n\), which lead to a tangle invariant that is functorial under tangle cobordism. Level two representations of \(U_q(sl_N)\) are categorified by the rings \(A^{k, 0}_n\).
