The hyperbolic twistor space \(Z\) of a \(4\)-dimensional manifold \(M\) with a semi-Riemannian metric \(g\) of neutral signature \((++--)\) is a bundle \(\pi:Z\to M\), whose fibers are hyperboloids in a \(3\)-dimensional bundle of eigenspaces of the Hodge \(*\)-operator on \(\wedge^2 TM\). The twistor space \(Z\) has a natural family of metrics \(h_t\) and two natural associated almost Hermitian structures \(J_1,J_2\). In this paper, the authors study cases in which the almost Hermitian structures \((J_k,h_t)\), \(k=1,2,\) are isotropic Kähler, i.e., \(\| \nabla J_k\| _t^2=0\). They give a condition in terms of the curvature of \(M\) implying that for a specific \(t\) the first almost Hermitian structure \((J_1,h_t)\) is isotropic Kähler, and show that the second almost Hermitian structure is never isotropic Kähler. Finally, the authors construct a two-parameter family of examples of metrics on a \(4\)-dimensional Lie group, where the hyperbolic twistor space \((Z,J_1,h_t)\) is isotropic Kähler but not indefinite Kähler, i.e., \(\nabla J_1\neq 0\).
