The main result of the paper seems to be Theorem 3.3 proving the existence of a semiconcave periodic function, \(u(.)\), satisfying \[ u(x)=\inf_{v\in R^n}[u(x+v)+L(x,v)+\overline H], \;x\in T^n:=R^n/Z^n \] where the Lagrangean \(L(.,.)\) is assumed to be a smooth function that is coercive and strictly convex with respect to the second variable. This problem is motivated by the dual of the so-called ``Aubry-Mather problem'', is interpreted as a discrete analog of the (continuous) Hamilton-Jacobi equation \[ H(D_xu,x)=\overline H, \;H(p,x):=\sup_{v}[-v.p-L(x,v)] \] and is studied using methods from the theory of viscosity solutions.
