The author approaches a typical problem in the multifractal analysis: for a given probability measure \(m\) on the interval \([0,1)\) one is interested to determine an explicit formula between the Hausdorff dimension of the so-called level set \(E_\alpha\) and the \(L^{q}\)-spectrum of \(m\). For a measure \(m\) satisfying the weak quasi-Bernoulli property (a property verified by a large class of self-similar measures) it is shown that contrary to the classical quasi-Bernoulli situation, there exist points where the \(L^{q}\)-spectrum is not differentiable. These points, called phase transitions, belong to \((-\infty,0]\) and lead to intervals where the multifractal formalism does not hold.
