The authors consider \(U(1)\)-bundles (monopole bundles) over so called \textit{fuzzy complex projective spaces}. These spaces are defined as noncommutative versions \({\mathbb C}P^n_N\) of the standard complex projective space \({\mathbb C}P^n\), obtained by means of a process of ``quantization''. More precisely such a quantization is obtained by a ``quantization'' of complex coordinates \((z^i,\bar z^i)\) on \({\mathbb C}^{n+1}\), identified with creation -resp. annihilation operators \(a^i\), \(a^+_i\), satisfying the following commutation relations \([a^i,a^j]=[a^+_i,a^+_j]=0\), \([a^i,a^+_j]=\delta^i_j\). Furthermore, they introduce a suitable differential calculus on such noncommutative objects in such a way to classify above quoted noncommutative monopole bundles by means of Chern classes. In the limit \(N\to \infty\) they obtain the commutative case, where the first Chern number (that is an integer), just denotes the monopole charge. \(N\) labels the representation of the fuzzy algebra, and it represents the number of particles in the Fock space used in the quantization process. The authors claim that such fuzzy spaces are useful in the theory of D-branes. Reviewer's remark: The noncommutative point of view (fuzzy characterization) followed in this paper is the same introduced in some previous papers by other authors [see, e.g., \textit{J. Pawelczyk} and \textit{H. Steinacker}, Nucl. Phys., B 638, 433--458 (2002; Zbl 0997.81075)] and it is related to a rigid interpretation of the concept of quantization, i.e., not related to dynamics where such D-branes should represent nontrivial solutions. (This limit appears well understood in [loc.cit.].) So the noncommutative monopole bundles, considered in this paper, cannot be seen as solutions of some quantum dynamical problem. Let us emphasize that a new quantum dynamical approach to D-branes can be formalized today in a strict mathematical approach, by using the geometric theory of quantum PDE's. In fact, in the framework of such theory, quantum D-branes can be interpreted as nontrivial solutions. Then their quantum nature is a dynamic one, and not more rigidly fixed a priori [see works by the reviewer of this article, published starting from 1996].
