It is well known [\textit{Y. D. Burago} and \textit{V. A. Zalgaller}, Geometric inequalities (Grundlehren der Mathematischen Wissenschaften 285, Springer-Verlag, Berlin) (1988; Zbl 0633.53002)] that, for any convex domain \(Q\) in \(n\)-dimensional hyperbolic space \(\mathbb{H}^n\), \(\text{vol}(\partial Q)>(n-1)\text{vol}(Q)\). In Euclidean \(n\)-dimensional space \(\mathbb{E}^n\) these two volumes cannot be linearly compared, being \((\text{vol}(\partial Q))^n\geq c (\text{vol}(Q))^{n-1}\) with \(c\) constant, and, more in general, \((W_r(Q))^s>c (W_s(Q))^r\), for \(r>s\), where \(W_i(Q)\) are the quermassintegrals of \(Q\). In case \(\partial Q\) is \(\text{C}^2\)-differentiable, \(W_i(Q)\) also coincide with the total mean curvature \(nM_i(\partial Q)\) of the boundary. In this paper the authors generalize the inequality \(\text{vol}(\partial Q)>(n-1)\text{vol}(Q)\) to inequalities between the quermassintegrals of a convex domain \(Q\) in \(\mathbb{H}^n\), proving that \(W_r(Q)>\frac{n-r}{n-s} W_s(Q)\), for \(r>s\). Moreover, since in \(\mathbb{H}^n\) the quermassintegrals do not coincide with the total mean curvatures, inequalities involving them are also considered. If \(\partial Q\) is \(\text{C}^2\)-differentiable, then \(M_r(\partial Q)>c\text{vol}(\partial Q)\), with \(c=1\) if \(r>1\), and \(c=\frac{n-2}{n-1}\) for \(r=1\). As an application is obtained the interesting result that the expected volume of a random totally geodesic slice of any given domain, not necessarily convex, is bounded above in hyperbolic space.
