A Riemannian manifold \((M, g, \eta, J)\) is called a metric contact manifold if \[ g(X, Y) = d\eta(X, JY), \forall X, Y \in C^{\infty}(V), \] where \(g, \eta\) and \(J\) are a Riemann metric, a contact form and an almost complex structure on \(V: = \ker \eta\) respectively. Suppose \(M\) is endowed with a spin structure with associated complex spin bundle \({\mathcal S}\). Every metric connection \(\nabla\) on \(M\) induces a Dirac type operator \[ D(\nabla) : C^{\infty}({\mathcal S}) \rightarrow C^{\infty}({\mathcal S}) \] and such a \(\nabla\) is called a balanced connection if \(D(\nabla) \) is symmetric. Following are the two main results of this paper: (a) There exist a metric contact connection Dirac equivalent with the Levi-Civita connection on \(M\). (b) There exists a metric contact connection \(\nabla\) such that \(D_c(\nabla) = {\mathcal H}\) where \({\mathcal H}\) stands for a first order natural elliptic operator which acts on the section \({\mathcal S}_c\) associated to the canonical spin structure of the underlying contact structure.
