Die direkte quantenmechanische Berechnung von Stoßvorgängen unter Benutzung des Stoßparameters wird für Stöße, bei denen der Impulsaustausch klein ist, durchgeführt. Es ergeben sich dieselben Ergebnisse wie bei Anwendung der \textit{Born}schen Stoßtheorie.
