Von beiden Energiequellen, (1) Umwandlung von Kernen, (2) Zerstrahlung von Materie, wird nur die erste in Betracht gezogen. Dabei sind als Behandlungsweisen zu unterscheiden: (1a) Gewöhnliche klassische Statistik, (1b) relativistische klassische Statistik \((kT \gg m_0c^2)\), (2a) gewöhnliche entartete Statistik, (2b) relativistische entartete Statistik. Berechnung unter anderm des mittleren Molekulargewichts als Funktion der Temperatur und der Dichte.
