Wenn die endeutige Funktion \(f(x,y)\) bei Annäherung des Punktes \(P(x,y)\) an den Punkt \(Q(a,b)\) längs jeder Kurve, die in \(Q\) eine Tangente hat, denselben Grenzwert \(L\) besitzt, so existiert der Doppellimes \(\lim \limits _{_{\substack{ x\to a \\ y\to b }} } f(x,y)\) und ist gleich \(L\). Beweis indirekt nach dem Einschachtelungsprinzip.
