Die durch \(\operatorname{tg} \beta = \sinh \theta\) definierte Funktion \[ \beta = \operatorname{gd} \theta \quad \text{(\textit{Gudermann}sche Funktion)} \] besitzt das Additionstheorem \[ \operatorname{gd}(\theta_1 + \theta_2) = \operatorname{arc\,tg} \frac{\sinh \theta_1}{\cosh \theta_2}+\operatorname{arc\,tg}\frac{\sinh \theta_2}{\cosh \theta_1}, \] das auch für komplexe \(\theta\) gilt. Mit \textit{Lambert}schen Funktion wird die Umkehrung der \textit{Gudermann}schen Funktion bezeichnet. Es wird ein Diagramm angegeben, das zu \(\theta=\theta_1+i\theta_2\) mit \(0 \leqq \theta_2 < 2\pi\) die zugehörige komplexe Zahl \(\beta=\beta_1+i\beta_2\) mit \(0\leqq \beta_1 < \pi\) liefert.
