Torus fibrations over the 2-sphere with the simplest singular fibers (Q578656)

This paper continues the author's study of singular fibrations of compact oriented 4-manifolds by tori [Proc. Japan Acad., Ser. A 58, 289-301 (1982; Zbl 0515.55012); ibid. 59, 100-103 (1983; Zbl 0532.55020); Contemp. Math. 35, 375-379 (1984; Zbl 0567.57005)]. Its main results were announced in the last of these papers. It is shown that if every singular fiber is a 2-sphere with a single transverse self-interaction then the 4- manifold is determined by its signature and Euler number, except when the signature is zero, in which case a result of \textit{Z. Iwase} [Jap. J. Math., New. Ser. 10, 321-352 (1984; Zbl 0603.57014)] is quoted which limits the further possibilities.
