H denotes a separable, real Hilbert space, S the unit sphere in H, and H(r) the Grassmann manifold of all oriented r-dimensional subspaces of H, \(r\in {\mathbb{N}}\). Proposition: There exists a normal in H(r) (i.e., a continuous mapping n: H(r)\(\to S\), such that for every \(E\in H(r)\), \(n(E)\in E^{\perp})\). This is equivalent to the existence of an r- vector-product in H. Though an r-linear vector product cannot exist in H (for \(r\geq 2)\), a strict 2-vector product in H is explicitly defined.
