A design method of ripple-free finite-settling-time control of continuous-time plants is presented in this paper. The method is applicable to a vast kind of plants including nonminimum phase plants. It is shown that deadbeat tracking design in the discrete-time domain yields a ripple-free finite-settling-time control for a step input. The design method relies on frequency-domain pole-assignment techniques.
