Let A be a commutative ring, the author is interested in finding all additive invariants of endomorphisms of a finitely generated A-module M. This boils down to the calculation of the group \(K_ 0(\text{End}M(A))\), i.e. the abelian group generated by all linear maps \(f: M\to M,\) with M a finitely generated A-module and subject to the relation \(| f| =| f'| +| f''|\) whenever \(f', f, f''\) connect exact sequences: \(0\to M'\to M\to M''\to 0\) in a commutative diagram. For regular rings A (noetherian and of finite global dimension): \(K_ 0(End M(A))\simeq K_ 0(A)\times \tilde A_ 0\), with \(\tilde A_ 0=\{f/g| \quad f,g\in A[t],\) \(g\neq 0\},\) i.e. the only invariants are the dimension of M and the characteristic polynomial of f. The author considers the problem for \({\mathbb{Z}}\)-graded finitely generated k-algebras (k a field). He then restricts the problem to homogeneous linear maps of degree 0. In the first sections (2-3) characteristic polynomials and Hilbert polynomials of (graded) endomorphisms are studied. - In section 4 the author proves \((*)\quad K_ 0(End Gr {\mathbb{P}}(A))\simeq {\mathbb{Z}}/[s]\times k.\) Here Gr \({\mathbb{P}}(A)\) is defined similarly as \(M(A)\) only requiring all modules to be graded finitely generated and projective. Furthermore the isomorphism (*) is described explicitly in terms of characteristic functions.
