The modular Hecke algebra of a Sylow p-subgroup (Q579403)

Let F be a field of characteristic p, G a finite group, Q a Sylow p- subgroup and \(M=F\uparrow^ G_ Q\) the trivial FQ-module induced up to G. A criterion for M to be free of FG-projective summands is given in terms of numerical indices associated to the conjugacy classes of G modulo p. Use is made of the `Hecke algebra' \(End_{FG}(M)\), regarded as embedded in FG.
