Complete integrability of the differential equations connected with the problem of nonlinear oscillations of a homogeneous beam compressed longitudinally (Q580009)

One considers the partial differential equations describing the oscillations of a homogeneous elastic beam compressed at its extremities and derives the nonlinear partial differential equation describing the nonlinear transverse oscillations of the elastic beam under constant compression at the extremities. The study concerns particularly the effects of propagation of nonlinear perturbations along the beam. One shows that the nonlinear evolution equation gives a completely integrable dynamical system in the sense of Liouville. This system generates a whole hierarchy of such systems commuting with the considered system.
