An attempt is made to study the problem for the unsteady, axisymmetric, viscous incompressible flow past a rotating sphere with differential suction and injection on the surface. The suction and injection are such that the total amount of fluid that sucked in, is injected out. The net flux of the fluid through the surface is assumed to be zero. The expressions for the fluid force and torque on the sphere are obtained. The variation of boundary layer thickness with respect to time is discussed.
