The Poisson equation in polar coordinates is of common occurrence in many scientific and engineering applications. In the present paper the authors derive the boundary integral formulation to solve the Poisson equation with Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions over a circular domain. The corresponding integral is then solved with the help of a four point Gaussian quadrature formula. The same formulation can be used for all simply connected domains which map conformally onto the interior of a circle. The Riemann mapping theorem asserts that such a conformal mapping does exist. The results are given for circular, semicircular and cardiod domains. It is seen that this formulation can be applied on computer giving far superior results.
