Employing asymptotic expansions, closed form steady state solutions are developed for the forced vibratory response of N-dimensional systems modelled via Riemann-Liouville type fractional integro-differential operators. The generality of the results are such that: (i) The response to spectrally rich harmonic exciting fields can be handled and (ii) dissipative/hysteretic effects can be modelled via the more general class of fractional operators. To illustrate the functional characteristics of fractional formulations of hysteretic behavior, the results of several numerical experiments are included in the presentation. These point to the more comprehensive modelling compabilities associated with such representations.
