Let G be a Lie group, \(\Gamma\) be a lattice in G and \((g_ t)\) be a one- parameter subgroup of G. The action of \((g_ t)\) on \(G/\Gamma\) defines a flow. In the reviewed paper, bounded (relatively compact) orbits of this flow are studied. In one of his previous papers, the author proved that for the flows on SL(n, \({\mathbb{R}})/SL(n, {\mathbb{Z}})\) induced by one-parameter subgroups of the form \(diag(e^{-t},...,e^{-t},e^{\lambda t},...,e^{\lambda t})\) the set of points of bounded trajectories is of Hausdorff dimension equal to the dimension of the homogeneous space. The purpose of the reviewed paper is to prove the following analogue of the above-mentioned result. Theorem. Let G be a connected semisimple Lie group of \({\mathbb{R}}\)-rank 1 and \(\Gamma\) be a lattice in G. Let \((g_ t)\) be a one-parameter subgroup of G such that Ad \(g_ 1\) has an eigenvalue (possibly complex) of absolute value other than 1. Then fo any nonempty open subset \(\Omega\) of \(G\setminus \Gamma\) \[ \{g\Gamma \in \Omega | \text{ the \((g_ t)\)-orbit of \(g\Gamma\) is bounded}\} \] is of Hausdorff dimension equal to the dimension of G. At the end of the paper, it is asked whether the analogue of the theorem holds for any Lie group G, closed subgroup H such that \(G/H\) admits a finite G-invariant measure and \((g_ t)\) such that Ad \(g_ t\) is semisimple for all t.
