The author studies the asymptotic behavior of the solution of the Dirichlet problem \[ L_{\epsilon}u\equiv \epsilon \Delta u+b\cdot \nabla u+cu=0\quad in\quad \Omega,\quad u=\Phi \quad on\quad \partial \Omega, \] where b has a single singular point at \(x=0\). He assumes \(x=0\) is an attracting point of \(L_{\epsilon}u=0\) and \(c\equiv 0\) (the exit problem) and uses analytic methods to deduce the results of \textit{A. D. Ventcel} and \textit{M. I. Freidlin} [Russ. Math. Surv. 25, 1-55 (1970; Zbl 0297.34053)] which were obtained by probabilistic means. This entails the construction of a viscosity solution \(\Psi\) of \(| \nabla \Psi |^ 2+b\cdot \nabla \Psi =0\) by appealing to the adjoint equation \(L_{\epsilon}z=0\). Since an attracting point of an equation is a repelling point of the adjoint equation, a study of equations with repelling singular point is undertaken.
