It is shown that the Liouville form for the line-element is recurrent if the conformal factor in the metric is a linear function of the coordinates and this is also the condition that it is a solution of the weakened field equations of the reviewer and \textit{D. J. Newman} [Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 57, 851-864 (1961; Zbl 0116.206)] (in the source-free case, that the Riemann tensor has vanishing divergence).
