Submanifolds of quaternion projective space with bounded second fundamental form (Q582607)

Let M be a smooth compact Riemannian manifold isometrically immersed in the quaternion projective space \(HP^ n(1)\). Let h denote the second fundamental form of M in \(HP^ n(1)\). For each unit vector u tangent to M, set \(\delta (u)=\| h(u,u)\|^ 2.\) In this article the authors determine all compact complex submanifolds of \(HP^ n(1)\) satisfying \(\delta\) (u)\(\leq 1/4\) and compact totally real minimal submanifolds of \(HP^ n(1)\) satisfying \(\delta\) (u)\(\leq 1/12\).
