The presented article studies the invariance of functions describing certain physical quantities entering the balances of mass, momentum and energy - as the equilibrium pressure, the viscous tensions, the dissipative function and the entropy - with respect to the so-called group of continuum transformations and obtains by this way possible forms of constitutive functions. As examples are treated the thermal and the calorical state equations of real fluids, the elasticity tensor, the viscous tensions and especially some consequences for one-dimensional non-stationary motions. It is evident that the main thoughts rendered in this paper have been worked out in detail in the author's, \textit{B. D. Annin} and \textit{S. I. Senashov}'s book on Group properties of elasticity and plasticity equations (1985; Zbl 0603.73018). A physical interpretation of the invariance principle used is not given. Also other difficulties occur: The angle \(\phi\) e.g., defined on p. 138, is not a tensorial invariant with respect to orthogonal transformations obviously, that means the representation of viscous stresses given on p. 138 can be correct only in one preferred coordinate system. So some questions remain unsolved for the reader.
