The main theorem of this paper is the following: Theorem. Let L be a Lie group of the form KR, where K is a maximal compact subgroup and R is a closed connected solvable normal subgroup of L, and let G be a discrete subgroup of L such that \(G\cap R\) is cocompact in R. Then \[ H_*(K\setminus L/G;{\mathbb{L}}^{-\infty}(G_ y))\otimes {\mathbb{Z}}[1/2]\cong L_*^{-\infty}(G)\otimes {\mathbb{Z}}[1/2]. \] Such Lie groups L are amenable, and the group G is known to be virtually polycyclic. \(L^{-\infty}\) denotes the direct limit of the \(L^{-n}\) functors of Ranicki, and \({\mathbb{L}}^{-\infty}\) is an \(L^{-\infty}\)- theory spectrum which is described in the paper. The homology used in the above statement is described in section 2 of the paper. This result is an L-group analogue of work of \textit{F. Quinn} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 12, 221- 226 (1985; Zbl 0574.18006)].
